Pharmacological Effects:

On the spectrum of antimicrobial effect it is similar to penicillin. The drug is active against gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms (meningococci, streptococci, pneumococci, staphylococci, gonococci). Ilosone also influences on a number of gram-positive bacterias, brucellas, rickettsias, agents of trachoma (eye infection that can lead to blindness) and syphilis. Little or no influence on the majority of mycobacteria, small and medium-sized viruses, fungi. In therapeutic doses Ilosone acts bacteriostatic.

When do I need to take the drug?

The drug is taken in bronhoektatical disease (disease of the bronchi, associated with the enlargement of the lumen) in the acute stage and other lung infections caused by antibiotic-sensitive organisms, with septic states (diseases related to the presence of microbes in the blood), pneumonia (inflammation of the lungs), purulent otitis (inflammation of the cavity of the ear), osteomyelitis (inflammation of the bone marrow and adjacent bone tissue), peritonitis (inflammation of the peritoneum), mastitis (inflammation of molokovynosyaschih ducts of the breast), pnevmoplevrits (combined inflammation of lung tissue and meninges), erysipelas and other gnoynovospalitelnyh processes.

Dosing:

Before assigning the drug to the patient it is necessary to determine the sensitivity to it. For oral intake the medicine is prescribed in the form of tablets or capsules. Single dose for adults 0,25 g, with severe diseases – 0,5 g. It is taken every 4 – 6 h for 1 – 1,5 hour before eating. Highest single dose for adults: inside – 0,5 g, daily 2 years. For children under 14 years it is prescribed with a daily dose of 20-40 mg / kg (in 4 hours), over 14 years – with a dose for adults.

Side effects:

Side effects in the treatment by this drug are relatively rare (diarrhea, vomiting, nausea). In long-term intake possible dysfunction of the liver (jaundice). In some cases there can be a heightened sensitivity to the drug with the appearing of allergic reactions. With long-term use of the medicine may develop the resistance to it.

Contraindications:

The drug is contraindicated in an individual hypersensitivity to it and when severe hepatic impairment. The drug should be used carefully in people with an indication of the allergic reactions in the anamnesis (medical history).
